Accepted sources

On the Generate screen, the The source card offers three tabs: One link, Several links and A file.

Platform What is read
YouTube Public and unlisted videos. The rewatch curve exists only on YouTube.
Twitch Public replays (VODs) and clips.
Kick Public replays.
Rumble Public videos.
Vimeo Public videos. A password-protected or domain-restricted video cannot be read.
Dailymotion Public videos, including short dai.ly links.
Odysee Public videos.
Google Drive The file must be shared as “Anyone with the link”.
Dropbox The file must be shared by link.

Paste the full address, starting with https://. ClipHeat reads the video’s duration without downloading it, and that duration sets the cost shown before launch.

The A file tab accepts videos your browser recognises, as well as .mp4, .mov, .webm, .mkv, .m4v and .avi files, up to 16 GB.

  • The duration is read on your device, before anything is sent: the cost is known before the file leaves. If the duration cannot be read, the file is still accepted and billed per minute; the exact amount is announced at launch.
  • The upload only starts at launch, when you click Start the generation.

Pick up to twenty videos at once in the same field. They show as a list with their duration and the total in credits; Send the N files uploads them one by one, each becoming its own generation. They are then processed one after another in your queue. If your balance, storage or queue refuses a file, the following ones are not sent; any other error only affects that file. Keep the tab open until the uploads finish.

The Several links tab accepts up to twenty links, one per line. Each video becomes a separate generation, and the cost is shown video by video before launch. Available on the Creator and Studio plans.

See Generating in batches.

A live stream is not launched from the Generate screen: its duration is not known until it ends. It has its own screen — see Monitoring a live stream.

Nothing is mandatory, but you will get better clips when:

  • someone is speaking — the cut relies first on what is said;
  • the video runs longer than a few minutes — over three minutes, there are few moments to choose between;
  • the sound is clean — a rough transcript makes rough subtitles.
